CoopeAtenas R.L. is a first class Industrial Agricultural Cooperative organization and offers multiple other services (Supermarket / Auto Service Station / Fertilizer and Hardware Warehouse / Coffee Mill.) Founded on August 10, 1969, as a service to the community, it started with 93 associates. It is located in Atenas, a province in Alajuela, Costa Rica, home to the famous grapefruit bakeries (the citrus grown in the area,) the famous railroad station Río Grande, in which they fought for the political unification of Costa Rica in the 1950’s, historical resting place for merchants in the early XIX century, and the holder of our well known reputation “the best climate in the world,” which attracts thousands of national and international visitors year to year.

Since the foundation of CoopeAtenas R.L., it has dedicated itself to offer coffee to the national and international market with high levels of quality in production, industrialization, and commercialization. These gradual and accumulative efforts made by generations of associates and business contributors through the years have propelled us to be an agricultural business model for the area and the country.

The permanent work of this organization not only reflects the productive and commercial spheres, but in the most important aspect, the people involved. All of this is done through humanizing the parameters of the social and economic model, which is known as “cooperatism.”
